Parent Information
Parents,
Thank you for your entrusting your child to Moultrie Middle School. The information below will help you understand a little about the class. Please read it carefully. If you'd like more information or if you ever have a question or concern, please contact me. I am looking forward to a great year!
Yours,
Jody Stallings
Homework
You can find out when assignments are due by checking the quarterly assignment calendar. A hard copy will be given to each student and can be found here.
Students will often say they have no homework. This is wrong. They should always have 20 minutes of homework every night (including studying vocabulary, grammar notes, reading, and writing).
Concerns
If you have concerns about the class, please let me know as soon as the concern arises.
If students are struggling ...
Be sure to consult this page. It is filled with tips on how you can help your child do what it takes to learn and succeed.
Contact Information
As students are becoming more mature and have more responsibility, I would like to have a discussion with students about grades and class concerns before conferencing with parents. To request a conference with me, students should put a note on my desk.
Parents may contact using one of these ways:
*Call the school (849-2819) to arrange a conference.
*Contact me through email at [email protected]
*If you prefer a phone call, please do not rely on school voice mail. Email your number to me (or leave a message with the school secretary) and I will call back.

What to Do If Students Are Absent
1. Check the calendar to keep up with assignments so they can return to school prepared.
2. Students should see me to arrange a time to make up any missed quizzes.
3. Students should ask a friend for any notes missed.
4. If students need to make up any work or need clarification on anything missed, they should see me before or after class.
Discipline Issues
The classroom discipline policy is the same as that used by other Moultrie teachers.
Class Supplies
Students will need:
1. Two pens and two pencils (sharpened before class)
2. A DOL (Daily Oral Language) notebook
3. Vocabulary Workshop book
4. Looseleaf paper.
Participation
Every student receives a quiz grade for participation. Participation points can be earned by asking a good question, providing a reasoned response, or making a positive contribution to the class.
Grading Policy
1. Grades consist of grammar quizzes, vocabulary quizzes, reading comprehension quizzes, speeches, writing assignments, and participation points.
2. Quizzes and most assignments count once. Grammar quizzes count twice. Completion or short assignments count .5 or .25. Exams count three times.
